SCIENCE sacks are proving the winning formula in Little Leigh after the village school entered a national competition.
Little Leigh Primary School has reached the second group of finalists in the Rolls Royce Science Prize contest - which invites teachers to submit a science-teaching proposal that addresses a specific need in their school.
Science co-ordinator Coral McIntosh created a library of lending resources for foundation, Key Stage One and Key Stage Two pupils.
The science sacks encourage children to follow a storyline that illustrates science concepts and how they link to the real world.
Ms Mcintosh has been awarded £5,000 to implement her idea during the next six months.
She said: "The idea has been on my mind for several years but it is very difficult to implement without substantial funding."
