POLICE have today been granted a further 36 hours to question an 18-year-old man in connection with the murder of a Winsford teenager in the early hours of Sunday.
Jamie Lee Vernon, 18, suffered a fatal stab wound during an incident in Dee Way at around 1am and died soon after at Leighton Hospital.
It is believed a large group of youths were in the area at the time and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
An 18-year-old man from Winsford was arrested and police are continuing to question him today, Monday.
Police are also looking to trace the murder weapon, a six to nine inch long knife, which they believe may have been discarded in the area soon after the incident.
Police are urging residents to look in their gardens and sheds for the knife which is believed to be a kitchen knife.
