A YOUNG boy who raised the alarm when he spotted a house fire while playing outside his gran's has been praised by firefighters.
Louis Davies, aged 10, prevented the blaze at a property on Bramhall Street from escalating after he spotted smoke billowing from the house at 8.15pm on Sunday.
He ran to his nan June Hampson's house to tell her what had happened.
Now, firefighters have thanked him for his actions and said he stopped the incident from becoming much more serious.
Firefighter Jason Fletcher, from Warrington Fire station, said the blaze was started after a pan was left unattended and set fire to itself.
He said: "The blaze was in the kitchen and the boy basically spotted what had happened and ran around to his gran's to tell her that there was a fire. She then called us and we went out to attend the incident.
"He did exactly the right thing and we are really pleased that he raised the alarm. If it had not been for him then the situation could have been a lot worse.
"This kind of fire can be a common incident and we would like to remind people to take extra care when cooking in the home and make sure that a smoke alarm is fitted in their property."
