THE sudden death of a two-month-old boy at the centre of a police investigation was not suspicious.

The inquest into baby Cameron Devey's death recorded a verdict of natural death, after detectives said it appeared to be a tragedy.

Giving evidence at Warrington Coroners' Court last Monday, DC Donna Pearson said: "We cannot come up with any conclusion except that it was a tragic accident."

Deputy Coroner for Cheshire, Dr Janet Napier, ruled the tot had been the victim of sudden infant death dyndrome after he was found dead last November.

The youngster lived with his dad, Keith Devey, and mum, Joanne Platt, on Fisher Avenue, Orford.

The court heard it had only been the third night he had slept in the cot next to his parents' bed when the tragedy happened.

The following morning he was

found face down in his bed with discoloured marks on his head.

He was rushed to Warrington Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

Cameron's death is the second baby tragedy for his mum who has lost another child previously.

According to the pathologist's report, the infant must have died a few hours before he was discovered by his dad.

Ms Platt wept during the inquest as she recalled the final hours of her son's life.

She said she had woken at 4am to put a heater on and cuddled him in her own bed before putting back in his cot.

DC Pearson added: "Through the police investigation it became clear that Joanne and Keith were loving parents."
