HOW can the Highways Agency and Cheshire Police justify reducing the Runcorn Bridge to one lane at peak rush hour in order to conduct a traffic census, which was the scenario this morning?
Surely in this age of technology, the census could be conducted with the use of cameras, sending any information out to the registered owner of the vehicle, instead of reducing the traffic flow, eliminating the bus lane and causing a two-hour queue to go less than one mile to the bridge, as well as massive tailbacks to the M56.
How much money has this cost the local economy through lost man hours and business?
How many people faced disciplinary action for arriving late for work?
Not to mention the unnecessary use of police man hours overseeing this venture - easier work than solving local crimes I suppose.
