MORE bobbies will be out on the town centre's streets during the World Cup.
While football fans get rowdy in Germany, Warrington police will be ensuring the same does not happen here as extra officers patrol at afternoon and evening games.
The move is aimed at reassuring the public and deterring incidents of crime and disorder.
Chris Clarke, Chief Inspector of operations, said: "It's all in a bid to ensure people can enjoy the games, including those played by England, in safety.
"With the World Cup well under way, even more people are coming in to the town centres to watch matches at the pubs and bars.
"The presence of extra officers will hopefully reassure the community that officers are out on the streets and ready to deal with any issues should they arise.
"But their presence should also act as a deterrent to would-be troublemakers who should know that we will not tolerate drink-related disorder of any kind."
Officers are carrying out weekly assessments as part of operation to ensure officers are on the streets in and around licensed premises to coincide with those matches that attract the biggest audiences.
