A VITAL community project in Lymm has been boosted by a massive cash injection from the parish council.
Lymm Parish Council chairman Clr James Ashington visited Oughtrington Community Centre to present £25,000 to help with their fundraising bid.
The Sandy Lane centre is in need of a massive revamp and has launched the Westenders appeal.
Organisers want to completely renovate a large part of the disused community centre to open it out.
Clr Ashington made his visit at the same time as the popular luncheon club which offers a meal and the chance to get out and about and socialise for many older people in the village.
The money was agreed at the annual meeting of the parish council and Clr Ashington told the meeting that organisations such as Oughtrington Community Association should be supported.
He added: "Between 400 and 500 people a week use this centre and it is a magnificent organisation."
