WESTON slipped up at home to struggling Blythe.
It was all going so well with Saad Wasim on the verge of a fine century and Asad Shah also about to wave his bat.
But the declaration came on 235-6 and the hosts ultimately paid the price, last Saturday.
Blythe got the win they needed, set up by a huge opening partnership of 156-1 as Weston's bowlers struggled to make an impression.
It had looked like a bit of a struggle with the bat too after a decent opening stand of 54.
When Mike Chester (33) fell it sparked a major collapse with Weston suddenly losing three more and finding themselves 59-4.
Wasim survived the blitz and began rebuilding the innings in a smart partnership of 73 with Simon Barratt (34).
Despite another blip around the 130 mark, Wasim found another partner in Shah and the two put on a splendid 99 before the call was made.
Wasim was left on 92 off 124 balls with Shah 48 from just 59.
The hosts saw their victory hopes slowly erode as openers Mick Grimley and Jehan Mubarak (78) took the bowling apart.
It was Wasim who finally made the breakthrough but Blythe were already well on their way to victory.
Nice cameos from Justin Malkin (25) and Simon Owen (14) helped but Grimley deserved the majority of the plaudits.
His brilliant unbeaten 111 was key to a six wicket victory.
After a reasonable start, Weston are falling away from the top pack in Division Two.
They travel to play Silverdale on Saturday.
