AN INTERNET search engine has confirmed what proud Crewe residents have known for a long time - their town is the centre of the World!
Robert Foster, who lives in Formby on Merseyside, called the Guardian when he made the quirky discovery searching Google's dedicated maps page.
From the site's general map of the world, zooming in as much as you can brings map readers to central Crewe, with Charles Street at the heart of the screen.
See for yourself by logging onto www.google.co.uk, click the 'more' link and then go to the Maps page.
On the first map that appears, use the sliding bar to zoom in and out.
Google is the world's largest and most popular internet search engine, comprising more than eight billion weblinks and employing more than 4,000 people across the globe.
