If young mums cannot afford to look after their babies without claiming for any benefits, then they should have thought twice about using protection.
For example, a pregnant teenager I know is due next month and is living in a beautiful, big house, rent paid for by the council. She has just received £500 off the council for her baby, and she gave the money to her boyfriend who bought a motorcycle with it. How can you fit a baby seat on the back of a motorcycle?
I am writing to express my anger and disappointment as a council taxpayer. Why should I have to give money to the council, only for them to give it to teenage parents who spend it on themselves, not their babies?
I further believe that all the money that teenage parents claim should be paid back once they are in full-time employment.
