I regularly read in the Warrington Guardian about Barrowhall Lane and its battle with dangerous driving and cavalier parking.

Chapel Road in Penketh also has two schools plus a nursery - we have pavements that are too narrow, so infant and primary school children have to step into the road on their way to and from school. We also have an unmarked, totally blind corner, which leads to regular accidents, a downhill start so drivers can get up to high speeds quickly, and no traffic calming measures at all.

After the last serious accident that occurred when I was at home, I again raised these problems with the borough council's highways department.

It sent along two officials, who had to run as a car came around the unmarked, blind corner as they crossed to Well Lane from Launceston Drive. The officials agreed that the exit from Launceston Drive was dangerous but that they could only act if there were regular serious accidents or a fatality.

Yes, Barrowhall Lane needs all the help it can get. But how about a little thought for the children on Chapel Road, not to mention the drivers who, several times a week, have to slam-on to miss cars turning out of Launceston Drive, even if they are not speeding?
