FREEDOM beckoned and he scarpered.
Just six days after being reunited with his owner, following a week on the run, flyaway hawk The Rock escaped again!
"I couldn't believe it," said builder Dave Harrison. "I think he must have undone the knot himself, they're not thick, they can do that."
Eagle eyed World reader Steve Daniels spotted him in a tree in his garden in Lockett Road.
He said: "I'm a keen bird lover, I feed birds 24-seven but since this bird landed, my garden's been empty. He's eating everything.
"He is a beautiful bird. I'm sure it's the one that was in the World."
We immediately alerted Dave and he instantly recognised his
hawk but couldn't catch him.
"He was eating all the young wood pigeons," said Dave. "I followed him round for a week but there was no chance of getting him back because he wasn't hungry."
A Widnes man who keeps birds then saw him tangled in a tree in Highfield Road on Monday, retrieved him and tracked Dave down through the independent bird register.
"What a smashing fella," said Dave. "I'm really grateful to all the people who have helped me.
"The Rock was great and sat in my hand. I've given him loads of chuck, quail, day old chicks and mice and he's calmed down.
"I'm going to have to keep him in the aviary until I drop his weight in September and start training him all over again."
