BIRCHWOOD High School pupil Megan Tyler broke a 31-year-old record at the Warrington Schools Athletics Championships at Victoria Park on Friday.
The 16-year-old reached a height of 1.64m - surpassing the previous record by four centimetres - in perfect conditions to win the high jump competition, before following that up with victories in the high jump and the long jump in the fourth match of the Young Athletes League in Trafford on Sunday.
Megan had already earned selection to the Cheshire team for the English Schools Championships in Gateshead on July 7 and 8 after wins at the Cheshire AA Championships and the Cheshire Schools Championships. She also finished second - equalling the winning height of 1.62m - while representing Cheshire at the Mason Trophy at Birmingham's Alexander Stadium last week.
