POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a number of incidents in the Croxton Lane area over the weekend.

Burglars took several small items from a house in Chestnut Close overnight between Saturday and Sunday, as well as the keys to a silver BMW 320, which was then stolen from the driveway.

Thieves broke into a silver Mercedes A-class parked in Chestnut Close between 10pm on Saturday and 8.30am on Sunday, stole a torch and left car paperwork strewn all over the vehicle.

Three cars parked in Lime Close were also targeted, including a gold Toyota Rav 4, a silver Lexus and a silver Toyota Hylux.

PC Mike Senior, from Middlewich CAT team, said: "These were all in close proximity to each other and in general the items stolen were CDs and small amounts of cash. All I can say to motorists is that they should make sure their vehicles are secure and they haven't left any items on display that may make their vehicle a target.

"These incidents show that thieves will go for anything - no matter how small in value it is - and things like CDs are easily sold on and easily concealed when someone is running away from the scene."

Police are appealing for information about a suspicious man seen looking into cars in Meadow View at 3am on Sunday.

They described him as quite tall with thin dark hair, wearing a dark hooded top and dark trousers.

PC Senior said the CAT team would also be interested in hearing from the man himself, to eliminate him from inquiries.

Anyone who can help should contact the CAT team on 0845 458 6382.
