WINSFORDIANS put their fitness to good use on Sunday when they took part in the Round Winsford Event and raised money for charity.
Around 160 people took on the gruelling challenge which has been hailed as a great success.
Organiser Gary Steele said: "It was a very pleasing turnout of people wanting to take part in the event and charity was definitely the winner.
"I'm not too sure how much we have raised so far but I'm sure it is an impressive amount."
Gary was pleased the weather conditions were perfect for runners taking on the nine-mile course.
He said: "In previous years it has just been too hot so it was great that it was a little bit cooler on Sunday.
"There were some excellent performances and everyone who took part can be very proud of themselves.
"It was cool enough for the runners but also lovely weather for the family fun day afterwards."
Gary organised the event to raise awareness of prostate cancer after he fought off the illness.
He said: "Sport is a great way to get people involved and raise awareness.
"If you organise a fun event like this then it sends out a good message because not only is it encouraging people to be active it raises the profile of our organisation."
Gary is now appealing for help to organise next year's event or he fears it may not take place.
He added: "It is such a lot of work and I don't think I will be able to do it on my own again. I need some help so if anyone would like to offer their services I would love to hear from them."
