A PAIR of lucky brothers from Delamere Park enjoyed a magical occasion as they joined in the fun at a star studded Royal party.

Oliver and Tim Smart, of Delamere Park Way West, joined the likes of Tracey Beaker, Postman Pat, Spot the Dog and Winnie the Pooh at Buckingham Palace on Sunday at a themed tea party celebrating the Queen's 80th birthday.

Oliver, 13, was selected from thousands of children who entered a ballot to attend the event and took along Tim, eight, and mum Jane, 38, to enjoy the fun.

Jane said: "It was absolutely wonderful, the atmosphere was incredible.

"I don't think the boys realised just what a privilege it was until they actually walked through the gates.

"It was a truly magical event they'll always remember."

The grounds of Buckingham Palace were transformed into a surreal fantasy land filled with characters from the nation's favourite story books.

As well as enjoying a Mad Hatter's Tea Party and Flamingo's croquet lawn on the palace terrace, Oliver, Tim, and the other young guests explored Mr McGregor's Garden, based on Beatrix Potter's Tale of Peter Rabbit, as well as Fairyland and AA Milne's Hundred Acre Wood.

Rudheath High School pupil Oliver said: "I really liked all of it, especially the show."
