A HORRIFIED council worker who discovered a pig's head among flowers laid in tribute to a dead policeman says he is ashamed to live in Northwich.
Tony Denton made the gruesome find as he drove by the spot where PC Tony Heaton died on the Davenham bypass on June 12.
Mr Denton, 45, of Central Road, Barnton, works at Sodexho Land Technology, which is a contractor for Cheshire County Council.
He had just finished cutting grass at a nearby school and was driving a tractor on the A556 when he was confronted by the sight on Thursday.
Mr Denton said: "It's absolutely disgusting. I feel so upset.
"It's the lowest of the low. It makes me ashamed to live in Northwich."
He added: "I was driving on a tractor so was able to see it clearly.
"I couldn't believe what I saw.
"It's disgusting that children could have been walking by and seen it."
A nearby neighbour, who did not wish to be named, expressed her revulsion.
She said: "I can't understand how their brain works.
"There is a family who loves somebody very much, children who miss their dad and they don't need all this.
"I just can't understand how anyone could sink so low to do this.
"I'm absolutely appalled by it as everyone around here will be."
