RESPECT for the law and the desire to enforce it has now all but ceased. Tony Blair's law-abiding majority are already in receipt of an ASBO - Abandoned, Sacrificed, Bewildered, Overtaxed.
We live in a society where the lack of family and school discipline, legalised sexual deviancy, and the failure to punish the lawbreaker is now taking its inevitable course. Politicians of all denominations fudge their responsibilities. What is the point in voting for any of them?
Decency and good order is fighting a losing battle. Only the transgressors of the law have 'human rights'. In many visible areas the police have given up the fight.
Cars leave Sainsbury's car park, deliberately ignore the turn left signs and travel on the wrong side of the traffic island - a frequent occurrence that will result in a tragedy.
Illegal and dangerous parking is followed by speed limit excess. Drivers of moving vehicles addicted to the mobile phone show unchecked contempt for road safety. Up to 20 an hour pass the police station clutching their phone and any number through the Bull Ring traffic lights on red.
Disabled badges proliferate with the drivers capable of a quick sprint en route to the shops. Why bother to tax and insure your vehicle? Penalties for non-compliance are derisory.
