WIDNES Cricket Club under 15s travelled to Atherton on Friday and won a very tight semi final.
Widnes posted 138 for nine off 20 overs and in reply Atherton reached 116 for eight.
Superb middle order batting by Gareth Yandell and Chris Travis enabled Widnes to score 93 runs in the last 10 overs.
Jack Webb went on to weave his spinning arm and curtailed the Atherton innings.
The under nines won the LCB Merseyside region softball festival at Northern on Sunday. They were unbeaten in six matches.
The under 13s won a match against Bootle on Sunday. Bootle scored 107 for eight in their innings and a magnificent 52 not out, by Rob Travis, enabled Widnes to reach their target in 18 overs.
Ben Stephens, 24 not out, supported well.
The under 11s lost at Bootle but played well.
