WOLVES were unable to match their March exploits at the JJB Stadium and lost to Super League's basement club on Friday.

Paul Cullen's men beat Wigan away for the first time in 18 attempts in March but a disappointing second-half showing cost them dearly this time.

After fighting back from 12-0 behind Wolves were nilled in the second half by a Wigan side containing world-record signing Stuart Fielden, who had joined the cherry and whites from Bradford just one day earlier.

Brian Noble's men, who had gained their first win in seven outings one week earlier against Catalans Dragons, handed Brian Noble his third win as boss with three tries in the second half.

Winger Brett Dallas roared over after 50 minutes and nine minutes later loose forward Sean O'Loughlin's scoot from hooker Mickey Higham's offload wrapped up the points.

Back rower Bryan Fletcher's touch down from a grubber kick in the last minute made the scoreline look a little flattering.

Wigan started with great enthusiasm and chalked up a 12-0 lead courtesy of two tries in the opening 11 minutes from prop Iafeta Palea'aesina and centre Nathan McAvoy, with scrum half Michael Dobson kicking the first two of five successful shots at goal.

Wolves hit back with a 20th-minute try from scrum half Simon Grix, which was converted by Briers, before Dobson slotted home a penalty.

Centre Toa Kohe-Love zipped through the Wigan defence from a scrum to reduce the arrears to 14-12 before half time but Wolves lost their way in the second period.
