EXTRA staff will be drafted in to North Cheshire Hospitals to cater for Creamfields if the event goes ahead in Daresbury.

But bosses have confirmed that they will not receive any extra money to pay for it.

An investigation by The World has revealed that Warrington Hospital has been put on standby to help out with emergency planning for the bank holiday August weekend event.

Kath Holbourn, acting chief executive, said: "As a responsible health service organisation we have increased our staffing levels for the duration of this event, simply because of the large number of people expected in the area.

"The trust has identified departments which could experience an increased workload and we have asked extra staff to work over the bank holiday.

"This is a necessary and sensible precaution to ensure that we are sufficiently prepared and I would like to thank everyone at the trust who has agreed to work over the two days."

However a source told The World that the taxpayers shouldn't have to pay for the extra work.

He said: "This will cost a lot of money in extra staffing and overtime and it might not even be needed.

"The organisers should pay a contribution for the cost of such an operation."

Ms Holbourn confirmed that the trust was not receiving any extra money to provide additional capacity.

She said some money might be recouped through the Payment by Results system of funding for NHS treatment - where trusts are funded for the number of patients they treat.
