MAYORESS Linda Dirir cycled to the Town Hall from Penketh to promote National Cycling Week.
She made the three-mile journey in '10 to 15' minutes with husband and Mayoral consort, Allin Dirir.
"It was brilliant," said Clr Dirir.
"The best bit was the nice cycleway on the A57 where you could go fast if you wanted, but the worst was mixing with traffic on the bridge after the Crosfields roundabout."
The couple borrowed bikes from their children - their own bikes were too old, and Allin said his dated back to 1940s.
Clr Dirir has made the environment her number one priority during her year in post - she hopes to lead a 'sustainable' a life as possible.
She added: "I will always campaign for more cycleways and for greenways.
"If they want to be green and sustainable, businesses should be providing cycle racks and showers."
Warrington Borough Council employees have been offered a 'Bike Buddy' - a regular cyclist to ride alongside and help build the confidence of less experienced cyclists.
