YOUNG golf prospect Lewis George stakes his claim to be the World's number one nine-year-old, next month.
After making huge wages on our shores, the Wistaston lad goes international when he tees off against the creme de la crme of his age group in July.
Confident Lewis will fancy his chances at the Junior Golf World Championships, taking place at Pinehurst, North Carolina.
And so he should after booking his place in the GB and Ireland team with a stunning second-overall in the Wee Wonders National Finals, staged last September.
Lewis sealed his ticket to the States with automatic qualification after finishing up as the lowest scoring eight-year-old at St Andrews in Scotland.
Almost one year on and our very own budding Tiger Woods gets set to compete against 80 other youngsters for the nine-year-old title.
A member of the Vale Royal Millennium Junior Golf Club and nearby Wychwood, he's only been playing for around three years with a current handicap of 25 - probably more comparable to 15.
Proud dad Steve says he's got every chance of victory.
"We're looking forward to it, big time," he said.
"I'm going along with his mum and grandfather and his coach Graham Moore will caddy for him.
"It'll be difficult because there will be a lot of good Americans.
"But he's got as good a chance as anyone.
"Out of the 80 kids competing, there'll be 20-odd who can win it and Lewis is one of them."
He warmed up for the challenge by defending his title at the Westminster Park Junior Open, which was held two weeks ago.
Based on his age last August, Lewis was looking for a repeat in the aged 6-8 category - the competition was two rounds of nine holes.
A steady start to the day put him well within the top 60% to make the cut from the morning round and things just got better and better.
After five holes, Lewis held a two-shot lead over playing partners Eloise Healy and Daniel Lloyd
And despite a bogie at the last, his final round of 32, five over par, was good enough for the win by a single shot.
Before the States, he steps it up in the under 13's at the Golf Foundation Junior Championships then the Wee Wonders Regional Final at Haigh Hall, Wigan.
