WESTON picked up a draw in a mega run-fest at struggling Meakin.

Saeed Khan hit a brilliant 106 and Mike Chester also found form in his unbeaten innings of 84 when victory was out of the question, last Saturday.

It was all about occupying the crease for Weston, along with batting points, after the hosts declared on a mammoth 408-7 off 55 overs.

Bottom of NSSC Division Two, Meakin looked in for a struggle when opener Andy Reed was dismissed first ball by Phil Cottrell.

Asad Shah also struck to leave them on a dodgy 30-2 before Zak Hussain (87) and Imran Nazir (149) turned the game around.

The duo shared a stand of 231 and although three quick wickets revived slight Weston hopes at 270-5, Lawton (47) and Roy Watkiss (70) leathered boundaries to get them past the 400 mark.

The visitors were on the ropes, losing Saad Wasim (8) and Simon Barratt (4) early doors to leave them on 21-2.

But Chester played the Mike Atherton role, sharing a stand of 187 with Khan who whacked his 106 off just 128 balls.

By the time Meakin finally broke through, Weston were virtually safe and Chester stood firm while wickets tumbled at the other end.

Taking eight points apiece, Weston still drop to mid-table.

They entertain Blythe this Saturday.
