A NANTWICH councillor has welcomed government plans to ensure workers get to take paid leave for bank holidays in addition to their statutory leave.
The proposals mean that up to two million of the lowest paid workers stand to benefit from additional leave, with women and part-timers set to gain the most.
It is widely recognised that the lowest paid are forced to take bank holidays out of their statutory annual leave entitlement.
Commenting on the announcement, Cllr Joyce Stockton said: "I'm pleased that workers will soon have the right to take paid bank holiday leave and not have to use them as part of their 20-day holiday entitlement."
