MORE than 1,000 people turned out for the annual Wistaston fete at the weekend.
Organisers from Wistaston Community Council were delighted with the glorious sunshine which drew people to the fete in their droves on Saturday.
Families took part in numerous traditional fete activities and bought bargains from more than 30 stalls, a number of which were set up by charities.
There were also performances by the Liverpool fuseliers and dance groups.
Retiring Rose Queen Vicky Parker, who raised more than £1,000 for the Children's Society during her reign, passed over the crown to Charlie Webb.
The fete was opened by Wistonian of the Year, Leslie Fothergill.
The organising committee's Geoff Armitage said: "It was a brilliant day, absolutely wonderful, and everyone was delighted with it."
