I WOULD like to thank motorists and residents in Stockton Heath for their patience while United Utilities carried out repairs on London Road last Friday, June 9.
Temporary traffic lights were put up by the borough council after part of the road collapsed because of a problem with a sewer manhole. We got a call from the council at about 10am on the Friday, went out to investigate, and then organised for repairs to be carried out as a priority because this is such a busy road.
Our contractors, Morgan Est, came out straight away - they repaired the manhole, reinstated the road surface and got London Road re-opened by 5pm Friday afternoon.
Councils and utility companies get a lot of criticism, sometimes justified, but all the good work often goes unnoticed. That is why I wanted to write this letter to set the record straight and thank my team for their swift response.
