ONCE again this weekend the residents of Sankey Bridges and Great Sankey have had to endure the obnoxious stenches of United Utilities sewerage treatment works.
In the past we have had all manner of excuses as to why the smells came.
We have had deodorisers, faulty tanks needing cleaning ... all sorts of excuses.
The Environmental Health Department of Warrington Borough Council investigates and for a short time we are pong-free.
Recently and particularly at weekends, we have had to endure the stenches again.
I would like to ask via the Guardian why is it at the weekend when nobody is available to remedy the problem?
Perhaps it is time we all had a council tax reduction of say £200 per household from the general council tax and £200 from the water and sewerage rates for the inconvenience of smelling this stench.
Perhaps some councillor or MP might like to get involved with the problem.
