CLEVER clogs college student James Sanders has clinched not one but three top awards in national science and information competitions.
The Priestley College student has landed a gold award in the British Informatics Olympiad and also went on to claim silver in a further two versions of the competition for chemistry and physics.
The 18-year-old demonstrated his unrivalled knowledge in the competitions, which are only open to the most able students from the UK, and managed the impressive hat-trick haul of awards through two years of hard work.
James, of Shetland Close, Fearnhead, is now hoping to go on and add A levels in chemistry, physics, further maths and computing to his list of prizes before heading on to study at Manchester University.
Jan Costello, curriculum manager for science and maths at Priestley said: "The achievements made by James are nothing short of sensational.
"It is difficult enough for a student to attain one of these awards but to get three is superb and shows James's ability to become a success on whichever career path he decides to choose."
Meanwhile, the college named its sport personalities of the year during a presentation.
Guest of honour at the event was Charles Longdon-Hughes, a former world and European karate champion, who not only handed out trophies but also delivered a 'karate aerobics' class to more than 100 students.
John Wrigley and Lauren Forshaw where named as Sports Personalities for 2006.
