A GROUP of walkers from Glazebury has successfully tackled the historic trail of its ancestors.
There had been concerns that the group would not be able to travel the 26-mile stretch between the village and Lancashire after walkers found out some of the land might have had to be covered by boat.
Although the members of the group put an appeal in the Warrington Guardian they could find no floating transport, but they decided to try out the giant walk anyway.
One of the group members, Delia Caswell, said: "It was a lovely day, many of us did the walk over two days but some managed it over one!
"We were lucky as when we got to the bit where we thought we might need a boat there was a security guard on duty who was able to let us through."
The walk was organised to mark the link between Glazebury and the Lancashire village of Sollom. Each week workers would walk between the two villages before many ended up settling in Glazebury.
