EVELOPERS behind a scheme to build more than 100 new properties in Latchford are hoping not to have to include affordable housing provision on the site.
Warrington Borough Council gave approval to a project put forward by Peel Holdings last year to build 122 apartments of three, four and five storeys at the Manchester Ship Canal workshops and railway on Thelwall Lane.
Now another application has been submitted which would see the developers hand over in the region of £283,000 to provide affordable housing elsewhere in the town.
Councillors recently gave their seal of approval to a development to transform Time Square in Warrington town centre, where again, a contribution for affordable housing was made rather than on-site provision.
