MOVIE mania looks set to hit Birchwood next month and it could get an extended run.
Housing association Frontis will be taking over Oakwood Primary School on Admirals Road for a one-night-only showing of the latest Disney film, The Wild.
But if the showing proves to be a hit, then a cinema evening could become a monthly occurrence.
The housing association says it launched the evening as a response to feedback from residents in Birchwood, who said they were fed up with a lack of a cinema in the area.
The nearest is the Odeon in Westbrook, although Warrington Borough Council has recently approved plans for two new multiplexes in Warrington town centre.
Bernadette Bell, neighbourhood regeneration officer for the area, said: "The limited facilities, particularly for young people in the area, is an issue we are currently addressing.
"The cinema project is just one initiative we are looking at to engage all of our residents and to provide family entertainment."
Frontis is also involved in a local partnership scheme with other agencies which is looking to improve life in the area and hopefully interact with young people to find out what they would like to see going on within Birchwood.
The Wild, will be shown on Thursday, July 6, at 7pm at Oakwood Primary School. The doors will open at 6.40pm. Admission is free, but strictly by ticket only.
To find out more information or for tickets, residents need to call into the Frontis office on Benson Road or telephone 856680.
An adult must accompany children and young people under 16 years of age.
