A PANAMA Jacks bouncer was cleared of grievous bodily harm after the judge stopped the trial.

The doorman was alleged to have either deliberately or accidentally dropped a reveller so the man fell on his face when he was removed from the Bridge Street bar.

The alleged victim, Mark Anthistle, suffered two broken upper teeth, three lower teeth pushed inwards, and three fractures to his jaw that required the insertion of two metal plates.

But bouncer John Harrison was found innocent at the judge's direction because of gaps in CCTV footage.

Film from inside the bar showed Mr Harrison removing Mr Anthistle from the dance floor after the 23-year-old reveller got into an argument with this ex-girlfriend last July.

An external camera then showed Mr Anthistle falling face down in the street immediately outside and knocking himself out.

Girls passing by called the police as he lay bleeding on the floor.

But Recorder Keith Bush, sitting at Warrington Crown Court on Tuesday, said the gap in the footage meant no-one could know what made Mr Anthistle fall.

And Mr Anthistle could not remember how he fell.

Mr Harrison, aged 31, from Manchester Road in Woolston, who had worked at the bar for around four months and as a doorman for 'nine of 10 years', was found not guilty of the charge.
