THE 'Wayne Rooney' of the Cabinet came to inspect Fiddler's Ferry's progress towards a green future last week.
Cabinet Environment minister David Miliband, who earned the tag from Tony Blair in a Radio 5 interview, had a tour of the power station and was updated on the two latest projects.
The 40-year-old was told about a more efficient method of burning biofuel, and a deal to sell waste ash so it can be turned into a cement substitute.
Mr Miliband officially opened the new burners after 18 months' work to build them - they are expected to double the amount of energy the station generates.
