A MID Cheshire businessman is hoping supporters of Witton Albion Football Club will be able to enjoy first class entertainment on and off the pitch next season.

Dermot Curran, owner of Dermot James Catering And Events, has taken over catering at Wincham Park Stadium and is confident of a bright future for the Northwich club.

He said: "I see Witton Albion as a club with huge potential and hopefully I can help to realise that potential off the pitch."

Dermot, 46, has provided catering for Blackburn Rovers, Derby County and Wigan Athletic.

He has also supplied the traditional strawberries and cream for tennis fans at Wimbledon.

Dermot said: "I have worked for Premier League clubs and have many years of experience in this field.

"Obviously Witton will be a very different challenge for me from what I faced at Wigan, Derby and Blackburn but I'm confident it will be a success."

Dermot, who runs the business from his home in London Road, believes he can help to establish a Premier League attitude at Witton .

He said: "No matter if you are Chelsea or Witton Albion, football clubs today need their off the field income.

"It is vitally important and there is no way clubs would be able to survive without it.

"There are only so many match days each year so there is an awful lot of days in between that need to be used to gain income for the club.

"We need to look at every way we can to maximise the potential of this club.

"I am a businessman and I wouldn't have gone into this venture if I didn't think it would be a success. Hopefully next season will be a great one on the pitch for Witton as well."
