MEMBERS of the public are being given a chance to make their views known following the launch of the SMYLE campaign consultation by Vale Royal Borough Council.
The Supporting My Local Environment campaign is designed to encourage residents, businesses and visitors to support two initiatives: Cleaner, Green, Streets and Spaces, and Think Globally, Act Locally.
Clr Malcolm Gaskill said: "This consultation is the first part of the SMYLE campaign.
"It will only work if people tell us what environmental issues they want tackling. Then we can work with them to address them. I hope a full cross section of our community will take part in this consultation and help make their SMYLE campaign a huge success."
People will be given the chance to select what level of financial penalty they feel would be appropriate to charge for a variety of environmental offences including littering, fly posting and not recycling.
Clr Mark Stocks added: "After people have taken part in the consultation they will also have the opportunity to take the SMYLE pledge.
"This means they make five simple environmental promises that, if everyone followed, would make the environment around us much better to live in."
