PEOPLE in Northwich who refuse to recognise parking restrictions could soon find themselves paying the price.
One driver is already having to hand over more than £100 to have their vehicle released from a garage after it was towed away for causing an obstruction on Applemarket Street.
PC Leanne Huddart, from Northwich Community Action Team, removed the car parked on the pavement near a yellow line on June 12 and said she will not hesitate to take action in similar situations.
She added: "At the end of the day we do not want to be removing cars left, right and centre, however I must stress we will take positive action against vehicles which are parked illegally. Our main concern is people's safety and we will do everything we can to protect that.
"It costs £105 to have your car released and an additional £12 for every day it is stored at the garage. There are plenty of free parking spaces in and around the town and there really is no need for people to park illegally."
