FRESH calls have been made for safety measures on the A556 in Northwich after an off duty police officer was killed while riding his motorbike.
Davenham residents have expressed safety fears after PC Tony Heaton died in Chester Road on June 12 when his Triumph motorbike failed to negotiate a sweeping bend and left the road.
Anthony Kania, of Hartford Road, said: "We are sick of the constant crashes which occur on the sharp bend between Hartford's Blue Bridge and Davenham roundabout.
"June 12 was the final straw when at approximately 6.45pm, after hearing a loud bang and opening our front door, we were confronted with another accident - unfortunately the motorcyclist was lying dead in the verge.
"His helmet was lying next to our front door after damaging my car which was parked up our drive. His instrument panel was lying under a neighbour's car 30 metres away.
"My son is still upset by the sight he was exposed to."
Anthony is calling for a reduction in the speed limit to 50mph, safety barriers to protect pedestrians and motorists, and speed cameras.
He added: "When is anything going to be done regarding this? My family should not be exposed to this on our doorstep."
Rebecca Pantegi, also of Hartford Road, feels strongly about the 'troublesome stretch'.
She said: "Last week a man died outside my house. He left a wife and two children who have my sympathy. I called an ambulance but I think he must have died instantly.
"So how many more people will have to die before someone applies some common sense and takes responsibility to slow the speed of this road?
"If the people responsible for this road want to stop more people from dying, then slow down the road. Sooner or later there will be another fatality and unfortunately it may be a pedestrian."
A Cheshire County Council spokeswoman said the road safety unit was carrying out an investigation but would not comment on possible outcomes at this stage.
