A MAN has been left needing facial surgery after he was attacked while walking with friends in Lostock Gralam.
The 27-year-old was walking along Works Lane just after midnight on Friday when a man began to shout at him.
The victim continued walking along the road but fell when his attacker approached him from behind and punched him.
A Cheshire Constabulary spokeswoman said the man tried to get back on his feet but was punched in the head and face several more times until he fell to the ground again.
The victim's right eye socket was fractured in the attack and he suffered bruising to his eye and arms as well as cuts to his head and is expected to undergo surgery later this week. The attacker is mixed race, 20 years old, around 5ft 8ins and of medium build. Anyone with information should ring police on 0845 458 6392.
