THEATRE lovers should prepare for some maritime mischief as a dramatic high seas adventure unfolds in Anderton.
To celebrate the Development of the Arts in Northwich's 30th anniversary, the good ship Fitzcarraldo will be docking at the Anderton Boat Lift with a motley crew of actors from Walk The Plank Theatre Company to perform an adaptation of Noah's Ark.
As raging waters engulf the land, the Ark sets sail, packed with caged monkeys, cats who believe the future will be feline and a power-crazed parrot who's cloning animals in the cargo holds.
Noah has gone and taking control of the helm are research assistant Fiona and unenthusiastic grandchild Francis, who find themselves tangled up in the chains of evolution.
In a struggle against the flood they strive to keep the Ark afloat, while contending with the mystery of vanishing animals.
A spokesman for Walk The Plank said: "The Fitzcarraldo is an ex-Norwegian ferry built in 1971 that has been transformed into a unique theatre space which inspires audiences and artists alike.
"When the audience climb the gangplank they want to be taken on a journey - and we do just that, creating magical worlds of theatrical invention for local people and visitors in ports and harbours nationwide."
Performances take place on Thursday, July 6, at 7.30pm and Saturday, July 8, at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.
Tickets for Noah's Ark, priced £6 for adults and £4 children and concessions, are available from the DAN office in Northwich Library or by ringing 01606 41597.
