A WARRINGTON policeman has embarked on a two-week cycling journey stretching more than 986 miles to raise £10,000 for two charities.
Sergeant Mike O'Carroll, of Warrington South NPU, is accompanied by three of his colleagues from Wilmslow and they are travelling from Lands End to John O'Groats in aid of The Rainbow Family Trust and Francis House Children's Hospice.
PC Andrew Murray, of Wilmslow NPU, said: "We are hoping to raise £10,000 for Francis House which gives terminally ill children and their families such vital support."
The gruelling journey began more than a week ago and the officers are not expected back until June 26 as they must persevere through 60-70 miles of cycling on each day.
D&M Cycles of Warrington provided the officers with cycling equipment and ensured the bikes were in full working order before the trip.
