RESIDENTS of Little Leigh will do their best to banish litter from the community's streets on Saturday.
Villagers will be walking the lanes, footpaths and towpaths in search of strewn sweet wrappers and other nuisances but it is not the only way the problem is being resolved in the area.
Litter pick organiser Matthew Veasey said: "Children from Little Leigh Primary School have already been brushing up on making it known that Little Leigh should be litter free.
"They have entered a poster competition to make people aware of being considerate to the environment by not littering.
"Pupils from all years created a variety of posters about how litter should be put in a bin or taken home and what a difference no litter makes to the village."
Successful entrants Tim Wilcox, Thomas Horton, Tania Vorster and Ben McIntosh are enjoying seeing their creations showcased around the community.
Matthew added: "The winners were chosen by members of the parish council and parish plan group and the winning posters will be used to advertise this Saturday's litter pick."
The clean up begins at the village hall at 2pm.
