A BRAVE woman has earned £635 for a charity close to her heart by doing a parachute jump at 10,000ft.

Warrington resident Gill Acton did the tandem skydive at Tilstock Airfield in Whitchurch but last minute nerves were not helped when she had to wait seven hours while the plane was checked.

Ms Acton, 25, of Greenfields Avenue, said: "I was supposed to do the jump at noonbut actually didn't do it till 7pm as they thought something was wrong with the plane. It was a strange experience but I wasn't actually nervous until I got on the plane."

Cancer Research was the beneficiary of the funds and Ms Acton chose them because she has had a recent loss in the family due to cancer and also some relatives who suffer from it.

Ms Acton raised the funds from donations at St Monica's Catholic Primary School in Appleton where she works as a teaching assistant, as well as from other friends and family.

"It's something I always wanted to do and I thought I might as well do it for a good cause.

"I'd recommend it to other people and I'd do it again," she added.
