A PENSIONER was left bruised and shaken after she was attacked while waiting for a bus.
Cheshire Police say the 89-year-old was approached by a man at 9.30am, on Friday, while she was waiting for a bus near the Ring O Bells pub on Longshaw Street.
The man tried to grab her purse and handbag and during the struggle she fell to the ground. The man ran off, pursued by members of the public.
He got away after climbing into a black Renault 19 turbo diesel, registration plate L594 TOT. The car was later recovered on Kimberley Street.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said the woman was left with bruises on her hip and face as a result of the attack.
The robber has been described as white, and aged
between 35 and 45 years old.
He is of average height with a thin build and was gaunt. He also had untidy dark hair.
