THE Wistaston Jubilee Footbridge - built to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth II to the throne - has been formally opened.
Civic leaders unveiled a plaque funded by Wistaston Community Council at the Wistaston Green Road bridge, which has been a big hit with local walkers.
The ceremony, which was conducted by WREN advisory panel chairman David Robinson and Cheshire County Council chairman Neville Price, also included the unveiling of a stone obelisk.
The bridge building project was a Wistaston Conservation Group initiative and will be maintained by the county council.
Cheshire County Council's senior bridge engineer Paul Tudor said: "The bridge has been available for use by walkers for several weeks and has been well received by local walkers who have commented favourably."
