THE cream of South Cheshire's performing talent will be competing for the annual StarQuest title next month.
The talent show will take place on July 1 at Market Square in Crewe, organised by the borough council together with Wulvern Housing.
The competition is open to all ages and performers of any kind who live in Crewe and Nantwich.
The winner will receive a cash prize of £100 and will be invited to perform in Crewe's first ever Party in the Park, together with the previous five StarQuest title-holders.
During the carnival event the performers can win more cash prizes, sponsored by Crewe Lions, in a competition to become the very first Carnival Talent Show winner.
Mayor Howard Curran said: "I am so pleased to support this event and in previous years have joined the judging panel which is always a most difficult task.
"We have so much to be proud of in Crewe and Nantwich, including our local culture and talent, whether it is those who perform professionally, as a hobby or socially.
"This is an opportunity for them to take centre stage and show what they can do, with some very attractive cash prizes".
Last year Crewe's Caroline Green walked away with the StarQuest title with her powerful rendition of the song Beautiful.
The youngest holder of the title to date is Maisie Stahl, aged 6, who entranced the judges by singing a number from the classic musical Annie.
Town centres manager Elaine Dodd added: "Due to the interest shown already I would recommend that people register in advance.
"Although the event will be open to anyone on the day, priority will have to be given to those who have pre-registered."
