IT might have been delayed by a day but there was still all the fun of the fair at Birchwood carnival.
Thousands turned out to enjoy the activities at Birchwood Forest Park after the event was moved back by a day to avoid a clash with England's match against Paraguay in the World Cup.
But the change proved such a success that organisers might now permanently move the event to Sundays rather than Saturdays.
Ranger Gaynor Kerry, who
organised the carnival said: "The event went really well, the weather was most definitely with us!
"I think it would have been a disaster if we had held it on the Saturday as planned. We were there setting up and normally there would be lots of people on the park picnicking and things but it was empty. I am so pleased we moved it!"
Although there had been some concerns about the future of the carnival because of the council changes to the ranger service, organisers say they are hopeful the event will carry on.
