CREAMFIELDS boss James Barton revealed the festival's new location could help make this summer's the best yet.

The Cream chief executive is looking forward to hosting this summer's event in Daresbury and says it could become a permanent site for Creamfields, putting Warrington on the festival map.

But until a meeting at Halton Borough Council next Tuesday , the plans are not certain to go ahead.

Speaking at the Creamfields launch party in Liverpool's BabyCream, Mr Barton said: "We're really excited about the combination of the new location and the line-up and believe this will be the best show we've ever done.

"We believe this site is more than suitable. It's got good quality access and it's as close to Merseyside as we could get.

"If Creamfields passes off at the site we have every intention of sticking around in years to come."

Warrington Borough Council and some residents who live near the proposed site have voiced concerns about the noise and disruption the one-day event could cause.

Mr Barton said: "I understand residents' concerns but we have to demonstrate the opportunities also.

"We've met with untold amounts of people and we've got a tremendous track record at organising outdoor events, so people will hopefully welcome us.

"We've been very honest and

open. We know there will be certain disruption and traffic, but the resources we'll provide will manage all of this.

"This is a huge opportunity for the area to host an international, award-winning event that will generate a huge amount of tourism and revenue.

This year sees Creamfields' most diverse line-up yet. The usual DJs and dance acts will be sharing the stage with Gnarls Barkley, Goldfrapp and The Zutons.

But Mr Barton, who says he is "pretty confident the licence will be granted", wants to reassure Creamfields fans that the festival isn't moving away from its dance roots.
