THERE is a wheelie great way to get five fruit and veg a day, with a mobile grocer hoping to make Walton greener.
Walton Lea Project is breaking the mould of mobile food vans. Instead of ice-creams or greasy fast food, the new van will sell fresh, organic produce produced at the Chester Road centre.
Kate Finch, who works at the project, said: "It's going to be like the town's mobile nursery, stopping at different places on its journeys.
"The selection we have is delicious and people will be also able to buy homemade honey, eggs and plants as well as things like newly picked green beans and new potatoes."
"It's a worthwhile initiative for the community, and people can be sure that our products are freshly picked and environmentally friendly grown, at competitive prices."
The healthy meals on wheels
is thanks to a £2,000 grant from Cheshire County Council.
With £5,000 provided by Gannett, owners of the Warrington Guardian.
The registered charity is hoping the new initiative will turn people away from junk food in favour of home-grown produce.
The successful horticulture project is well known for employment opportunities for people with learning disabilities.
