Appleton came within four runs of victory in a Cheshire Building Society Cricket Alliance Division Two clash at Disley.
Smart bowling from Ed Sygrove helped bowl out the home side for 159 runs.
Appleton's batsmen found it difficult to develop an innings on a pitch that was breaking up but they chipped away before Disley claimed the final wicket when victory was in sight.
The second team put the previous week's poor batting performance behind them as they mowed down Disley's bowling after being set a total of 234 to chase.
Chris Grumley starred with 122 not out as Appleton won with only one wicket down and seven overs to spare. Chris McClellan bagged five wickets.
The thirds' feeble batting display continued as they were bowled out for a dreary 40, with Rylands easily passing the total to win by nine wickets.
